Congratulations to Dr. Mbah Ntepe Leonel Javares for securing a 2024 RSTMH Early Career Grant!
We are delighted to share that Dr. Mbah Ntepe Leonel Javares, Research officer at the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plant Studies (IMPM), has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Early Career Grant by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH). This award, valued at £5,000, supports emerging researchers making impactful strides in tropical and global health.
Dr. Mbah focuses on schistosomiasis and the discovery of new biomarkers. In this project, through the Unit of Immunobiology and Helminth Infections and the supervision of Dr. Justin Komguep Nono, he will explore the potential of using host microRNAs to biomark schistosomiasis infection and/or disease in school-aged children.
Dr. Mbah’s achievement highlights his dedication and innovative research within the field, contributing essential insights and solutions to pressing health challenges. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and excited to follow the developments in his ground-breaking work.
