Dr. Mbah is a biomedical scientist and research officer at the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plant Studies (IMPM), Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI), Cameroon. He holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Analysis and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology obtained at the COMSATS University Islamabad (2021). With over seven years of teaching and research experience in biological sciences and public health, he has developed expertise in statistical analysis, in vivo animal studies, and both clinical and non-clinical research.
His research interests span multiple disciplines, including Molecular Biology, Environmental Toxicology, Neurosciences, Toxicogenetics, Immunology, and Helminth Infections. Since 2017, Dr. Mbah has been contributing to biomedical research at IMPM, where he also serves as the Head of the Department of Scientific Equipment. Additionally, he collaborates closely with the Immunobiology and Helminth Infections (IBHI) Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Justin NONO, furthering research on neglected tropical diseases.
Dr. Mbah was recently honored with the prestigious 2024 Early Career Grant by the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH), which supports promising researchers in tropical and global health. His award-winning project focuses on schistosomiasis and the discovery of new disease biomarkers. Under the supervision of Dr. Justin Komguep Nono at the IBHI Lab, he is investigating the potential of host microRNAs as biomarkers for schistosomiasis infection and disease in school-aged children.
Dr. Mbah’s research is at the forefront of innovation, offering critical insights into helminth infections and host-pathogen interactions. His work aims to improve diagnostic strategies and inform disease management approaches, making a significant impact on tropical medicine and public health. His dedication and scientific contributions underscore his commitment to advancing biomedical research and addressing global health challenges.
